Groundwork

Brief

In 2024, we partnered with Frontline Justice to design a digital platform and community identity for a new kind of legal advocate—Community Justice Workers. These workers operate outside of traditional systems to offer peer-based legal guidance rooted in trust and lived experience.

Solution

To amplify their efforts, we built Groundwork: a community hub and storytelling platform tailored to the decentralized, people-powered nature of justice work. Our goal was to align a growing field with a shared identity, infrastructure, and space to connect, all while centering the vision of justice workers themselves.

Deliverables

We developed a scalable visual identity system, UX strategy, and modular platform architecture. This included UI components, a design language co-created with advocates, storytelling assets, and launch collateral. The brand system needed to flex across regions, orgs, and users—while holding a unified sense of movement.

Partnering with Frontline Justice and a national advisory group of justice workers, worked with a small and nimble team comprised of Sven, Sarah, and myself. I led visual design and storytelling—from early concepting through brand development, platform design, and rollout.
