bio

Dave Dawkins is a Senior Design Lead at Daylight Design in San Francisco, specializing in visual systems, product design, and experience strategy for complex, mission-driven challenges. With experience at IDEO.org and as Chief Creative Officer at one of the country's largest African American-owned publishing firms, he's led design work across early education, healthcare, justice reform, refugee resettlement, and digital transformation. An artist by training, Dave moves fluidly between strategy and craft.

His work spans brand systems, product design, films, workshops, and physical installations—from designing scalable infrastructure in Ghana to creating accessible health communications for refugees in the U.S.

Before Daylight, he led creative teams through major digital transformation, working to expand what's considered "good design" by centering perspectives of the global majority.Dave is a skilled facilitator who believes strong design creates clarity and makes collaboration easier for everyone. He holds a BFA in Studio Arts from the University of Houston. Outside of work, you'll find him exploring the Bay Area with his family or hiking while listening to podcasts on physics, politics, or culture.
